Wait for Good Hands

Especially at a full table, waiting for good starting hands has never hurt anyone. The fact is that bad poker hands are bad because they lose you money in the long run when you play them. Donâ€™t start playing sub par hands because youâ€™re bored. Donâ€™t play trashy hands because you once won a huge pot with a particular trashy hand, and it is now youâ€™re â€œlucky handâ€.

To put it simply, just consider folding bad hands as you making money. You are being payed in the long run by folding bad hands. Itâ€™s as if at the end of the year, someone went over your hands, saw the bad ones you folded, and payed you money. Playing bad hands pre flop will just make each and every other street in that hand that much harder to play and more expensive.

Everyone posting will be entered in a random draw for 2 cash prizes.

I typically only play the good hands and play tight. But, every once in a while I throw things in a mix and play a crappy hand to mix it up a bit. I just never bet big on crepe. **Well, unless I am bluffing.** wink

Well put Bower, and so very true. Even on the small blind, you should try to resist playing a bad hand just because, "I'm already in it for 10, so it's only 10 more"...unless maybe everyone folds to you.

Thats very good advice that I wish all poker players would use as most times when you lose against another hand they bluffed and ARE the ones that play them and when everyone throws their cards down that person that did called their crappy hands start doing it all the time and when you watch long enough they do start losing.

I would agree to fold bad hands but to many players bluff. what I thought to myself was a bad hand and folded could of won. you never know when playing hold'em what cards are coming and just might make what you think is a bad hand a really good hand. Smile
