I got this from a friend and wanted to share it with you all ... =)

After a while you learn the subtle difference
between holding a hand and channeling a soul
and you learn that love doesnt mean learning
and company doesnt mean security
and you begin to learn that kisses arent contracts
and presents arent promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes open
with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child
you learn to build all your roads on today
because tomorrows ground is too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down in mid flight
after a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much
so you plant your soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
and you learn that you really can endure
that you really are strong
and you really do have worth
and you learn and you learn ...

Poppy, that is absolutely one of the most beautiful pieces of literature I have ever read!

Another one printed out, framed, and hanging on my den/office wall!

That wall is getting pretty full! But if needed, I will build another one!!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing that. I would not have wanted to live my whole life, having missed it.

My Poker Guru,

In the short time I have known you. I have seen you deal with many things. Mostly very pleasant things, though not always so.
Yet whatever the day, whatever the deal,
You have always remained fair and shown equal attention to one and all.
I can appreciate that this is by no means easy, we are pupils after all, and there is one thing that pupils always value very highly.
The same things we valued as kids back at school, attention, praise, a well done or a pat on the back from the teacher.
These are proud and special moments that are remembered clearly by all, even after 30 or 40 years.
I remember times when I received praise, the exact words that were said, who said them and why, like it was yesterday.
Or am I on my own here?
Well, a little praise from you sir, always makes my day a special day.

May I now bestow some well earned, and richly deserved praise upon yourself my Poker Guru.
You are resposible for successfully building up this very special forum, a forum that has become an irreplaceable part of some peoples everyday lives. Pause for a moment and realise your achievement, you have created something special that means so very much to so many.
You are also responsible for gathering together a crowd of people, that are the most virtuous crowd of people I've ever known.
We are not by accident or coincidence, we are here because of you.
You are the reason. You are the attraction.

Dear Member ALW,

This is an inadequate attempt to respond properly to your remarkable commendation.

I read your outstanding post yesterday and tried all night to think of the words with which to respond. I have not yet found them. Perhaps that is because there are no words to thank anybody for one of the Greatest Gifts of Words there could ever be.

But I do want very badly to tell you this, my friend: Our forum is what it is because of the extraordinary group of individuals who have joined with me in our extremely challenging venture to create and develope the very best forum on the worldwide web. To perhaps lead the way in setting an example of what an international forum should be in these trying times for our world.

That is why I have so much respect for my members. They have, every one, been brave enough and caring enough to make the decision to be a part of what we are trying to do, through the good times and the bad. The fact that I know there are no quitters among us is what inspires me to keep going and giving all I can, as do you all.

My secondary purpose is to make this forum be filled with, now and increasingly with time, the very best poker players in existence.

After saying that, all I can say is a simple and inadequate THANK YOU.

And if you don't mind, I would like to extend that thank you to every member who is sticking with us through thick and thin. The credit for the enduring success of our forum belongs to them....and to YOU.
