In a fantastic tournament, Norway's 18 year-old Annette Obrestad became the youngest winner in World Series of poker history, as reported by Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. Betfair.com organized the event and presented 1 million pounds sterling to the winner of the first annual WSOP. The young Norwegian played confidently and finally won the match.
Obrestad said, "I never expected to win." She further added, "I'm speechless. I really don't know what to say." The WSOP Commissioner in the end also congratulated the girl and said that one-day, great poker professionals from all over the world would participate and shine.
Winning all three WSOP bracelets, European poker players have literally kept out those old hand American players. A report from Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. says that the winner, Obrestad won Poker 18-karat gold and jewel-encrusted bracelet created by luxury Swiss watchmaker CORUM, the official timepiece of the WSOP and 1 million pounds for her first place win. However, Tabatabai, for second place got £570,150 pounds.
